ARTS 320 -- Typography (4) is intended to introduce type history, type design and the use and manipulation of type in the context of producing computer generated art and design. This is accomplished by an introduction to a variety of software packages, lectures, and by creating visual images with the computer. The primary focus of instruction will be on functional applications of type and type design. Further investigation is achieved by the criticism, presentation, and analysis of these projects and the development of a portfolio. This course is required for the major. Prerequisites: ARTS 319 and 369. Fall and Spring.
