What browser should I use?

Firefox is the recommended Internet browser for Moodle. It is very likely you will encounter problems if using Internet Explorer or Safari. Google Chrome works well, but you may occasionally notice problems such as embedded videos not loading.

My instructor says to go on Moodle, but I do not see their course under "My Courses" what should I do?

There are two possible answers:

  1. Your instructor may not have made the course site available (visible) to students yet. Check with your instructor to ensure his or her course site is set to visible.
  2. You have not been enrolled in the course site. Students are automatically enrolled in course sites they've registered for, but it may take up to 24 hours before you actually gain access to course sites in Moodle. If you need immediate access, ask your instructor to enroll you.

I can't see a block my instructor says is there, where is it?

It is possible that you accidentally "docked" this block. If there is a white bar on the left side of your screen, hover over it and any blocks you have docked will pop-out. To "undock" a block, click the little arrow icon while hovering. Or, to undock all blocks, click the little arrow in the lower-left corner of your screen (when logged into Moodle).

I dropped a course, how can that Moodle site be removed from the list of "My courses"?

If you officially dropped a course that uses Moodle, you will be automatically removed from the course site in a few days following the add/drop period. However, if you withdraw after the add/drop period ends, you will remain listed in the course site in Moodle.

I'm a cross-registered student, how do I gain access to Moodle

Cross-registered students can login to Moodle just like any other student, but with one extra step.

First, use your SUNY Potsdam CCA (Campus Computer Account) username and password to login. This initial step will create a Moodle account for you, if you didn't already have one.

Second, inform your instructor(s) that you have successfully logged into Moodle so that they may enroll you in their course(s).

After your instructor enrolls you in his/her Moodle site, the course(s) you've registered for will appear under the My Courses area of Moodle. Click the name of the course to enter it.
